The General Workers’ Union yesterday expressed concern about problems in connection with the payment of wages and distribution of shifts for Arriva bus drivers.

A meeting with the public transport operator was held after the union received various complaints from Arriva employees, in particular the fact that they had only received their basic pay and no overtime for the last two weeks. The talks are carrying on this morning when decisions on shifts and payment systems are expected to be taken, the union said in a statement. This afternoon, the GWU’s central committee is expected to meet to list the main points for discussion that should lead to the first collective agreement for Arriva workers. The union was recently given official recognition by the Arriva management to represent the company’s employees.
