Obituary

ATTARD. On August 20, at St Paul’s Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun, PAUL, aged 93, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his great loss his beloved children Mary Rose, Mario and his wife Sandra and John, his grandchildren Miguel and his girlfriend Michaela, Daniel Paul, his sister Gerita, other relatives and friends. The funeral takes place tomorrow at the chapel of St Paul’s Home, Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3 p.m., followed by interment at Burmarrad Cemetery. Donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Ħamrun and the Attard Mission Fund, Meghalaya, India, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FENECH. On August 21, at Mater Dei Hospital, GEORGE, husband of Doris of Mellieħa, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Doris, his son Conrad and his wife Maronia, his son Gilbert and his girlfriend Antoinette, his grandchildren Camille and Jacques, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow, for Our Lady of Victory parish church in Mellieħa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 3.30 p.m. followed by private interment in the family grave at Mother of Mercy Cemetery in Mellieħa. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated.

MUSCAT. On August 21, at St Vincent De Paul Residence, MARY née Said, aged 94, widow of Abel from Birkirkara, surrounded by her loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church, went to meet the Risen Lord. She leaves to mourn her great loss her children Carmen, Richard, Joe (Australia), John (UK), Lilian (UK), Frank, Agnes, Lawrence, their husbands and wives and their families, including her late daughter Marie’s family (UK), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her sister Louisa’s family, and those of her late brothers and sister George, Alfred and Jessie, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 8.30 a.m. for St Helen’s Basilica, Birkirkara, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 9 a.m. followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the management and staff at St Vincent de Paul Residence RB2A for their admirable dedication and loving care. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

SPITERI. On August 20, RUTH, née Galea, aged 39, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her husband Mario and beloved daughter Mara, her mother and father, Theresa and Joseph, her sister Marthese and her husband John, her brother Charles and his wife Joann, her nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Gozo Hospital today at 4.45 p.m. for St Peter and Paul Basilica in Nadur where Mass praesente cadavere will be said for the repose of her soul at 5.30 p.m., followed by interment at Nadur cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar Arka, Għajnsielem will be greatly appreciated. Dear Ruth, you have borne your long illness with exemplary courage and Christian fortitude. You live in our hearts and we thank the Lord for the time we shared with you. May the good Lord reward you for all your suffering and grant you eternal life and the peace you so much deserve.

ZAMMIT MANGION. On August 19, JOSEPH, of Sliema, Deputy Director of Education 1988-1990, passed away peacefully at Mater Dei Hospital, aged 82, surrounded by his loving family and comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Mary, his children Louis and his wife Patricia, Mariella and her husband Antoine Vella, Father Michael SJ, Sister Josette IBVM, David and his wife Marion, his grandchildren Marie and her husband Kenneth, Andrew, Beppe, Bianca, Rachel and Michael, sisters and in-laws, relatives and friends including the residents and staff at St Vincent De Paul Residence. Mass will be celebrated tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. at Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, followed by interment in the family grave at Mqabba cemetery. No flowers by request, but donations to the Jesuit Refugee Service would be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal life.
