The 22nd World Scout Jamboree was held between July 27 and August 7. The jamboree takes place every four years, and this year’s edition was held in Rinkaby, Sweden. About 39,000 scouts from more than 150 countries took part.
The Maltese contingent consisted of 79 members, 19 of whom were Gozitan. There were eight participants from the Victoria Scout Group, and 11 leaders and ISTs from the Victoria and Xagħra Scout Groups.
The scouts took part in the Camp in Camp, organised by the jamboree’s planning team. During this activity, scouts are split into smaller groups of 50 and go to another camp site in southern Sweden. Camp in Camp was hosted by Swedish scout groups.
The scouts also took part in module activities, which were fun and inclusive, focusing on discovering new cultures.
Furthermore, they took part in a cultural day, for which the Maltese wore a knights’ robes with the Maltese cross and distributed Maltese snacks and drinks.
This experience was an opportunity to make new friends and swap badges and other scouts memorabilia. It was a memorable experience for all those who attended.
