Maltapost plc’s turnover figures are marginally up over the same period last year and profitability on normal trading activity is also in line, the postal company said in its interim directors’ statement last Thursday.
The company, however, pointed out that while positive fluctuations on the its foreign exchange exposure benefited its revenues during the last financial year, this was not repeated during the last six months. It added that constructive measures were in place to mitigate any future adverse fluctuations.
Maltapost said its efforts to increase and enhance therange of its ancillary services to complement existing ones continue. The resultant tangible benefits are expected to be reflected in the relevant revenue streams within the medium term.
Maltapost said it has also continued to consolidate its re-branding exercise, the branch upgrading programme, and the expansion of further non-core activities.
The directors are confidentthat, despite challenging market conditions both locally and abroad, Maltapost will, barring unforeseen circumstances, be able to deliveryet another satisfactory performance during the second half of the financial year.
