Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp confirmed yesterday the club was in talks with Manchester City over a possible move for unsettled striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
Redknapp revealed Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was negotiating with City over a possible move for the Togolese international, who has found himself surplus to requirements under the reign of Roberto Mancini.
“The chairman is talking to Manchester City about the player but where they (the negotiations) are at, I genuinely don’t know,” Redknapp said.
Adebayor, 27, spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Madrid and Mancini has made it clear the former Arsenal striker has no future at City.
However Adebayor’s huge wages at City – he is paid an estimated £170,000 per week – are believed to be the biggest obstacle deterring clubs from making a move for the player.
