Hungarian policeman chases LifeCycle support car - for a Maltese coin!

The cyclists taking part in the Betfair LifeCycle Challenge pedalled their way into Hungary from Slovakia today and cycled along flat countryside in the fourth day of their campaign.

Three cyclists escaped injury when a truck drove very close to them and caused them to collide, throwing them onto the ground.

There was also a little light relief when a policeman chased after one of the back-up cars after a roadblock – but all he wanted was a Maltese euro coin for his collection.

This afternoon, the cyclists are facing steep hills as they head for Austria along their 2,000km route that is taking them from Prague to Sarajevo. They are scheduled to spend the night in Lockenhaus, which formed part of Hungary until 1920.

The Lifecycle Challenge is raising funds  for the Renal Unit at Mater Dei Hospital.
