Notwithstanding several letters that I have written to The Times, which has kindly published all of them, cleaning in Sliema has not improved.

The rubbish on the shore of Sliema is still being collected in one bag with no regard for recycling and the steps in front of Don Bosco Street have not been cleaned for a long time.

The Sliema local council issued a circular recently to inform residents of a new timetable for the collection of rubbish. Recycled rubbish has to be placed only one hour before collection time at 1 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday.

They should know that most residents will be at work or out in the morning and it is not possible for them to put the rubbish out at 1 p.m.

The Sliema council needs to get its act together and collect all rubbish at 9 a.m., as in the past, to enable residents to leave their bags before they go to work.
