The American destroyer USS Carney, the latest warship to take a break in Malta from its operations off Libya, sailed into Grand Harbour yesterday. She joins British assault ship HMS Ocean and supply ship RFA Fort Rosalie, which have been here since early last week. Another assault ship, the French navy’s Mistral, left on Saturday after a crew change but is expected to return shortly. It was the first time in decades that two helicopter carriers – the Ocean and the Mistral – were in Grand Harbour simultaneously.
