• The Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be holding a night vigil led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech today, eve of Santa Marija, between 8.15 and 10.15 p.m. The Gozitan Eucharistic Movement will be leading the adoration, followed by Mass at midnight. Participants are being asked to bring a red candle. Transport will be available from all parishes. For more information, call 2145 3105. • The Franciscan Conventual Community of Victoria is urging the public to donate blood today on the 70th anniversary of the martyrdom of St Maximillian Kolbe. Transport will be available from near the church at St Francis Square, Victoria, to the Gozo General Hospital at 10.15 a.m. Alternatively, one can meet in front of the emergency door of the hospital at 10.30 a.m. For more information, call Fr George Attard on 2155 6089 or 9983 0119.

• A blood donation session will be held at the Gozo General Hospital in Victoria today between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

• The annual fish show by the Malta Aquarist Society (Gozo section) will be held at the entrance hall of the old Ninu Cremona Lyceum Complex (entrance through Kennedy Square) today between 8.30 a.m. and 8.30 p.m. and tomorrow between 8.30 a.m. and 6 p.m.

• The feast of the Assumption of Our Lady will be celebrated at the Cathedral in Victoria to-morrow. Mgr Grech will lead Pontifical Mass at 9 a.m. The procession with the statue of Santa Marija leaves the Cathedral at 7 p.m., accompanied by the Leone Band.

The agricultural show, Il-Fiera Ta’ Santa Marija, will this year be held in the grounds of the Victoria Secondary School due to the refurbishment of Villa Rundle.

Band marches by the 12th May Band of Żebbuġ (Malta) and the Banda Unjoni of Luqa will be held at 11 a.m. The traditional horse races in Republic Street will start at 2.30 p.m. Fireworks will be let off from Gelmus Hill between 6.30 and 10.30 p.m. Most of the activities will be transmitted on Radju Katidral 90.9 FM and online on www.radjukatidral.com.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu sanctuary will today be held at 6.15 a.m., 8.30 a.m., 10 a.m.,11.15 a.m. and 5 p.m. At 6 p.m. there will be the recitation of the rosary, followed by Eucharistic benediction.

• A brass hammering exhibition by Corrado Lozia is currently on show at the Citadel in Victoria. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. until August 24.

• The Friends of the Sick and Elderly (Gozo) will be holding a fundraising concert, entitled ‘Rock the Citadel’, at Citadel Square in Victoria on Friday at 8.30 p.m. Nicholas Haber, Ben Brient,Heavenly Blue, Over Outs, Fire, Eve Ransom and Hammerheads will take part. • The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at Savina church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Gozo CCU Foundation’s ‘Summer Sizzler’, including a barbecue, will be held at the Cornucopia Hotel in Xagħra on August 27 at 7 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by the Spectrum Band and Penny Dix. • Art Club 2000 is currently holding a Collective Art Exhibition at the Gozo Ministry exhibition hall in St Francis Square, Victoria. Fifty Art Club members are exposing more than 1,000 art works including paintings in different media, ceramics and sculpture. Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 1.30 p.m.
