Local rock band The Myth marked a new chapter in its history when it launched its debut album Dreams last week.

The band has been part of the local scene for more than two decades, releasing its first single in 1991.

According to the band, which has released several singles over the years, there was never any intention of releasing a proper album.

“We’ve been receiving many requests from people asking for a compilation of all our singles, which made us realise it was time to take the step and put out an album,” said a spokesman.

“The title of the album happens to be the name of one of the singles. It’s one of our favourite songs and also one of our most successful singles, so we agreed it was probably fitting to name our first album after it.”

The album also includes a re-recording of the band’s debut single, Can’t Stop The Fire. “We decided to re-record the song because we wanted to have consistent recording quality throughout the album… but we’ve made sure the new version is faithful to the original”.

The first 50 copies of Dreams will bear a unique serial number and will be signed by the band.
