Young Maltese singer Thea Saliba marked her return to the local music scene by launching her latest single, Hostage For Love, during her recent performance at the Great Beer Festival a fortnight ago.

The new single is her second of several planned single releases penned by American songwriter Matthew Loverso.

Produced by J-Stylz, Hostage For Love was mixed by David ‘DA’ Anthony, the latter an in-demand professional who has worked with various artists, among them gospel mega-star Yolanda Adams and R n’ B icon Janet Jackson.

Loverso, whose track record includes working with Teddy Riley, Scott Storch and Mr Wood$, was also behind Saliba’s 2009 single, a ballad called It’s His Eyes I See, and has kept track of the young singer’s career ever since. Inspired by her rapid emergence as an aspiring R n’ B artist, the American writer wrote Hostage For Love specifically with Saliba in mind.

J-Stylz, who also collaborated with Loverso on Hostage For Love, is a former member of notorious American R n’ B act Blackstreet, with whom he toured the US, Japan, Australia and Europe.

He later set up Powerplug Music Group, his own production company through which he seeks to support up-and-coming artists by helping them to develop their sound and prepare them for a career in the music industry.
