Mqabba road surfacing programme moves ahead

A project to resurface a number of roads in Mqabba is under way, with works on 23 of the 29 streets already completed.

The project, worth €600,000, is known as Roads 29 by the Mqabba local council and is being carried out thanks to a pilot project for residential roads falling under the Local Councils Parliamentary Secretariat.

Work on the roads is expected to be completed in the coming months.

Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said explained that the schemes covering residential roads, through which councils were being given additional funds for roadworks, were yielding positive results in several localities. A total of 187 roads were resurfaced, with another 64 still in progress.
