A Somali migrant was stabbed five times in a bar in Marsa during a fight believed to have started when he refused to buy two co-nationals a drink. Mohammed Abdi Abdullah was seriously injured but not critically after he was stabbed once in the chest and four times in the back at about 1 a.m. outside the Tiger Bar in Marsa, sources said.

The police said they were informed that the Somali man was found injured at Xatt il-Mollijiet, Marsa, close to the immigrants’ open centre, and that two Somali men were “helping in the investigation”.

He was stabbed with a butter knife, the sources said.

Duty Magistrate Jacqueline Padovani appointed experts to help her in the inquiry into the stabbing.
