Notices are not enough

While at the beach in Marsascala, I noticed a number of foreign youngsters who I imagined were students who were there to take photographs of the salt pans.
I was ashamed with the state of the place. Dog pooh and the remains of BBQs could be seen both in and by the salt pans. This is disgusting. Surely the health authorities would not tolerate this, after all, salt is used in our kitchens, by bakers etc.
Just before going down the steps leading to this foreshore there is a sign erected by the local council which says that BBQs are not allowed. Putting up signs will get us nowhere, as with the case of notices urging owners to clean up after one’s dog. We need supervision.
This could be another task for the wardens instead of issuing tickets to parked cars. The other day I read that dogs will be allowed into Sliema public gardens. We all know these creatures should not be blamed but it is their owners, who are as bad as some hunters, we need to point fingers at.
