This area, situated close to San Blas Chapel, holds numerous old English elm trees (ulmu), some of which have very thick trunks. Two populations exist in the area, one of which was seemingly burnt less than five years ago but which is today in a good progress of regeneration. The site also includes a copse of old olive trees (żebbuġ), which from their trunk size, are estimated to be at least centenarian in age.

Mepa declared this site as a tree protected area on May 24, in accordance with the provisions of the Trees and Woodlands Protection Regulations (2011) as per Government Notice number 473/11.
