Man jailed for trying to sell cannabis to students
A 30-year-old man from Valletta was this morning jailed for a year after he pleaded guilty to trying to sell cannabis to two14-year-old Austrian students and their leader near City Gate on Tuesday.
Stephen Nappa was caught after the students reported him to the police.
Mr Nappa, who is a relapser, also pleaded guilty to being in possession of heroin.
Magistrate Antonio Mizzi sent a recommendation to the Prisons Director for Mr Nappa to attend a rehabilitation programme.

Why not de criminalize the possession and sale of cannabis?
Cannabis use for adults is not a big deal and it is more trouble free than alcohol use is.

Come on guys, we are talking cannabis here which is nothing serious these days. Don't put yourselves in a primitive situation. Come on Malta lets move on.

Well, if City Gate does not exist he was wrongly accused(like one of those priests who abused children)

we should turn our courts into a kind of funland or a disney park and start making some money out of it.

In one year's time, this person will:
1. be free from any drug addiction which he may currently have,
2. will have enough money to live a normal life and
3.will have enough respect towards society that he will be an examplary citizen and help others to quite drugs
COME ON !!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope he does it again after one year and gets caught again maybe next time they will lock him up for good.
@ J LANZON..... I admire your concern for these people and i do to some extent agree with you that its better to help clean these peope up BUT i really do not believe that a person like this can ever be "cleaned up" in one year and a rehab course. Our prison does not work magic and no miricales ever happend in prison...... Unbelievable stuff yes but no miricales......

Somebody like that is a loser with very little chance of ever changing. They should lock him up and throw away the key.

Ehm ...we don't lock up losers, we lock up criminals

Ha ha! Free food! Free methadone! Free accomodation! In house sex on tap! the occasional high! and protection for the outside world! What more could a thug ask for in life?

So you think wasting tax money on prison for this guy rather than trying to have him cleaned up? It's the reason why people end up more of a drug-addict/abuser, is because of people who think like you

Freedom.... Drug addicts are victims of drugs. Most drug users wish to be free from drugs but society and the their addition keeps them taking drugs..... This person must pay the price for selling drugs but in the same time rehabilitation for this person must be ensured and so i agree with free methodone until this person is able to live a life away from drugs.

Is it possible that this man couldn't find himself some well to do clients and had to resort to pushing?

This is drug related... If there's one thing this country teaches the public is that it's better to be caught defrauding someone rather than selling drugs.

Where is the "suspended" part ? This must be a misprint or something .....

He did not get a suspended sentence because he is a relapser.
My compliments to the three young students, and the pregnant woman for exposing him to the police.
