Three swimmers who found themselves in difficulty at Ramla in Gozo were yesterday assisted by Emergency Response and Rescue Corps lifeguards.

At around 5.30 p.m., the first person was towed safely to the shore by the lifeguards. After about 15 minutes, the lifeguards rescued another two swimmers caught in strong rip currents.

None of those rescued needed further assistance.

The E.R.R.C called on swimmers to watch the colour of the flags hosted on the lifeguards towers before swimming.

The Lifeguarding service at Ramla is being run on a daily basis till the end of September.

The service is possible due to sponsorship from the Malta Tourism Authority to and the Gozo Ministry. Support is also provided by Transport Malta, the Civil Protection Department and the Gaia Foundation.
