An Air Malta aircraft landed safely at Malta International Airport yesterday after fears of a landing gear fault. Sources said a cockpit indicator showed an undercarriage problem shortly after 1 p.m. Fire engines were deployed but the landing gear deployed properly and the aircraft landed safely. Air Malta said the aircraft was operating a multi-sector flight and was on its first leg en-route from Malta to Catania. On arrival in Catania, the crew reported an undercarriage crew awareness alert. As a precaution, the crew were instructed to return the aircraft to base in Malta for inspection.
