The 1,000-strong cast of the 61st Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo are providing an abundance of matchless entertainment on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle.

This year the theme of the event is Of The Sea and it features a large contingent from the Royal Navy and the Royal Marines. The Pipes and Drums this year come from the British Army, the Royal Air Force and bands from Germany, Oman and Australia.

They provide the opening act and are the centrepiece of the finale. The show also features Dutch soldiers on bicycles and German soldiers playing Alpine horns.

The Royal Navy Field Gun crew race their guns along the Esplanade as part of the event – all against the spectacular backdrop of Scotland’s top tourist attraction.

The Tattoo runs until August 27.
