A winning ticket for the US Mega Millions lottery jackpot worth 99 million dollars was sold at a petrol station.

Ohio Lottery spokeswoman Marie Kildane said the winning jackpot ticket for Friday's draw was sold at Speedway in Jefferson, 10 miles from the Pennsylvania border. The jackpot has been accumulating since July 5.

Ms Kildane says the winner can claim the prize from tomorrow - lottery offices are closed for the weekend.

The winning numbers in Friday's draw were 6-24-28-33-42 with a Mega ball of 19.

The lottery is held in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the US Virgin Islands.

According to the Ohio Lottery website, the odds of winning the jackpot were one in more than 175 million.
