Summer heat keeping fire fighters busy

The summer heat is keeping fire fighters busy as they are being called to put out a number of grass fires all over the island.
Reader Tim Micallef captured this photo of one such fire at Ta' Giorni this afternoon.
The field that caught fire, included a number of scrapped cars.
The Civil Protection Department did not consider this afternoon's fire to be a large one.

It's not only that. You would be surprised what starts off such fires. Even a piece of glass, acting as a concentrator of the sun's rays, is often a cause for such fires.

People throwing lit cigarette butts out of their windows (passing cars). Disrespectful in many ways.
