Cockerels in Naxxar
Sliema has its students but Naxxar has cockerels!
Just before daybreak everyday there is a chorus of shrill crowing, not affecting the owner as he does not live at the premises.

A single cockerel does not create a nuisance on the contrary it welcomes a beautiful morning, but if there are two or more they compete with each other and they create a chorus! I do not think that there is a law firbidding people to keep cockerels in residential areas except against bad odours and cleanliness as this also applies for keeping rabbits at home, unless it is commerial breeding!!
Ms. Brown try and get hold of one of them, they make a tasty chicken broth!!

I sympatise with Ms Brown, it does not matter where you live but it is not right for anyone to impose uncumbersome noise for two hours in the early hours of the morning and same in the afternoon when one is trying to have a rest, we have just experience the same issue where someone put chickens and a cockerel in a back yard of a garage, so the person is not bothered with the noise but he does not care if it bothers someone else. That is sheer selfishness. Mr Camilleri must have lived on Filfla as he has first hand experience, he should have stayed there, maybe?

Michael Scicluna I didn't but I heard that they provide good accomodation to all those who are bothered with the slightest sound. But thinking about it, you may not get what you want because you may still hear the lapping of the waves on the shore and the Kanġu ta' Filfla calling its mate.

How nice. I am missing that wonderful sound here. Really a pity that it is hard to hear nowadays.
