Romeu: Chelsea signed midfielder Oriol Romeu on a four-year contract from Barcelona for an undisclosed fee yesterday. The fee was agreed 11 days ago for the midfielder. “Leaving Barca hurts, but you have to take your chances. Chelsea is a great option for me,” Romeu said. Romeu is currently in Colombia on duty for Spain at the U-20 World Cup.

Malbranque: Sunderland’s French midfielder Steed Malbranque signed a two-year contract with Saint Etienne. The 31-year-old began his career at Saint-Etienne’s nearby rivals Lyon before signing for Fulham in 2001. The former France youth international subsequently moved to Tottenham in 2006 and two years later headed for Sunderland.

Abriel: Nice have confirmed they have agreed a deal to sign midfielder Fabrice Abriel from Marseille. The 32-year-old will undergo a medical at the Stade Municipal du Ray before completing his move.

Brunt: West Brom captain Chris Brunt yesterday became the latest player to commit his future to the Baggies. Brunt has agreed terms on a three-year contract extension. Just last week, midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu also pledged his future to Albion through to the end of 2015.

Campbell: Queens Park Rangers have signed striker DJ Campbell on a two-year deal from Blackpool for an undisclosed fee. QPR manager Neil Warnock had been chasing Campbell for several weeks and is believed to have offered around £1.25 million for the former Birmingham star.
