A new liquid petroleum gas facility worth €20 million is being built in Bengħajsa.

The main investor, Gasco Energy Ltd, a sister company of Liquigas Malta Ltd, said the facility would double its current capacity as from autumn 2012, further ensuring security of supply to its customers.

Once the new facility is commissioned, the old Qajjenza plant will be immediately closed down.

The plant will include six large LPG storage tanks, a pipeline from the importation terminal to the facility and a cylinder filling plant.

“We are confident the usage of LPG will increase due to its advantage of being a cleaner and more efficient fuel,” company CEO Roberto Capelluto said.
