Two foreigners arrested after drug find
Two foreigners have been arrested following a drug find in Paceville.
A Sudanese who lives in Hal Far is expected to be charged with trafficking and a Frenchman with possession of cannabis.
The police said the two men were arrested by the Drug Squad at around 1.30 a.m. after they saw the 26-year-old Sudanese, who lives at Hal Far, passing on drugs to a 19-year-old French man.
The police intervened and found the French man in possession of cannabis. The Sudanese, who has already served a prison term for drug trafficking, immediately threw money on the ground.

We have not seen for a long time those articles about refugees and illegal immigrants describing them as “an engineer by profession”, “a psychologist by profession”, “a teacher by profession” and so on. It has been a long time since the do-gooders defending illegal immigrants told us how lucky we are in Malta to receive these uninvited guests. We are now seeing the true nature of many of these people.

''What is a crime? What is punishment? It seems to vary from time to time and place to place. What's legal today is suddenly illegal tomorrow because society says it's so, and what's illegal yesterday is suddenly legal because everybody's doin' it, and you can't put everybody in jail.''

If you can't put everyone in jail, you can at least deport them.

Much smoke about nothing.
So a teenager goes to a party area and meets with a dubious character. A deal is made and the 2 go their separate ways.
One goes to send illicit funds to his hungry family back in Africa, the other goes to spend his evening in a cloudy haze. No harm done you may think.
WRONG. They MUST be PUNISHED.
The fact that one has entered the country illegally and then has the audacity to sell banned substances to foreigners, is one will annoy many and must be condemed harshly.
I mean, just imagine (God forbid), that it was a Maltese 19 year old who had bought this mind altering, body and soul crushing, herbal remedy.
And what was the young, and no doubt well educated, Frenchman thinking? Did he really imagine he would be able to dodge our well honed and expert police force after buying 25€ worth of highly addictive, toxic and deadly drugs?
Will there be an open, educated and non-political debate on this subject as there was on divorce?
No, I didnt think so.

In other countries like Switzerland the Sudanese who is in our country illegally and without a passport, would be sent back to his country with the first plane out.

I agree Mr Borg.....if it was my desicion i would send him back. It is not about the cannabis per se but a person whom we opened our arms to stay peacefully in our country and than taking this pathways, for me is unacceptable.......no questions asked.

It does not matter the amount found. Cannabis is illegal in this country. So regardless of what some idiotic people think, if the law of the land says that cannibis is illegal then whoever is found in possesion of the substance has to face the consequences. Now if that person is on top of it all an illegal immigrant, thus abusing the country he has entered uninvited, then they should be deported.Immediately.I do not want my taxes to keep this scum in prison. There are plenty of more deserving organizations in need of help on these islands.

Apart from him being sudanese, think if it were other people with small amounts of personal possession, and they get sent to jail just for that, your wasting your taxes there so don't just think like that. Politicians like to keep the real facts to benefit themselves also

Does not take Rocket Science to Break the Law and Sell Drugs.
I do not think it is a bright Idea either, so Ms Abela may be 100% right.
The person is a relapser, landing here illegally, he is a Sponge, even in Jail he is sucking up Blood, only to return back to crime when his time in jail is up. He apparently does`nt know better.
I say, Throw him out immediately, unless somebody wants to take him Home to take care and watch over him.
There are far better ways to spend our Tax Money, and charity begins at home

"The Sudanese, who has already served a prison term for drug trafficking"
Why was this illegal immigrant career criminal not deported the first time around? Besides entering Malta illegally this fine gentlemen continues to live a life of crime.
Whatever happened to deporting foreign criminals?
Michael Calleja
Aug 3rd 2011, 20:39
Sorry but did it mention illegal immigrant anywhere? there is no need for labeling simply by knowing their country of origin...further, why did you not comment on the deportation of the Frenchman?
Mr Chris Mifsud
Aug 4th 2011, 12:47
@Michael Calleja
"Sorry but did it mention illegal immigrant anywhere?" - He is Sudanese and lives at Hal - Far. It does not take a genius to put 2 and 2 together.
"why did you not comment on the deportation of the Frenchman?" - The Frenchman was buying not trafficking and there was no mention about him having already served a prison sentence like the illegal immigrant did.

Even "some" is too much. And do you know how many "some's" this lawbreaker has been trafficking around? Do you know whether young people's lives have been and will be ruined by his actions? In fact he was jailed once for drug trafficking. and then you "lol" - shame on you? Those having similar hobbies as this Sudanese's should be ashamed and shut up.

@ Mr.Camilleri
Cannabis does not ruin lives, as you are trying to imply. Cannabis will be legalised in the next 10-15 years, whether you like it or not. Not only that, but individuals will sue their governments for withholding a medicinal herb like cannabis which not only is proven to cure certain kinds of cancers but it also PREVENTS some types of cancer.
I "lol" again to you and to all those who support prohibitionist laws, and don't worry, I don't feel no shame and surely I won't let a person like you shut me up.
Mr Daniel Gauci

David, I am with you. You have to understand that older generations were subjected to a lot of propaganda regarding Marijuana.
However, educated people and perhaps the younger generations are aware of the benifits to Marijuana, the stigma has to change and it will take educating before people realsise all the benifits from this actually wonderful plant.
Do not let the ignorant (or the Government) sway or bully you people - educate yourselves and see the truth.

I suppose if you have kids of your own you would encourage them and buy them Cigarettes to smoke their Health away.
I would think you`ll spend a fortune to buy them Pot, so that they`ll will forever live a meaningfull, healthy and happy life.
OMG, what would our society do, without Pot and Stuff?
David Caruana

Joe Gatt
Your comment does not make sense - NO ONE ever advocated the under-age use of anything - be it cannabis, alcohol, tobacco or gambling. If anyone would encourage his kids to use any of these mentioned would be not only doing an immoral act but also commiting a crime.
We are talking about adults here, not children!
You playing the "kids-card" is ridiculous and only shows that you have no argument to put forward.

Good, keep up the good work. These actions are what is required to keep Paceville enjoyable for the majority of those who visit. No doubt there will be the usual negative comments from those who claim to know the area but have never actually been there for an evening.
