A 36-year-old man died when he lost control of his motorcycle, hit a centre strip and then a crash barrier in Żebbuġ early yesterday morning.

A 22-year-old from Żebbuġ, who was riding pillion, suffered very serious injuries and was in a critical condition, the police said.

The accident occurred at about 2.30 a.m. along Mdina Road in Żebbuġ. The motorcyclist, who was from Pietà, died on impact.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti carried out an onsite inquiry.
