The belfry of the 300-year-old Immaculate Conception Chapel, the oldest in St Julians, has been restored at a cost of €22,000 by Resources Ministry employees after one of its bells was in danger of crashing down because of deteriorating stonework. The workers are now concentrating on the façade. Last year, The Times had reported that an arch holding one of the bells had collapsed.
