Nine shooters from the Malta Shooting Sport Federation (MSSF) will travel to Serbia this week ahead of their participation in the European Championships, to be held in Belgrade.

Jason J. Aquilina, Nicky Carabott and Frans Pace will represent Malta in the trap competition, starting on Thursday. Matthew Busuttil and George Cassar will be bidding to achieve an MQS.

On Friday, Lawrence Darmanin will take part in the 50m rifle prone.

Maltese interest in the Euro Championships is expected to reach a peak on Sunday when William Chetcuti competes in the double trap. Nathan Lee Xuereb has entered the juniors competition.

The double trap duo will be assisted by coach Jimmy Bugeja.

On August 11 and 12, Clive Farrugia will participate in the skeet event. In Belgrade, Farrugia will be accomp­anied by coach Ludovico di Maio.

MSSF president Saviour Portelli and secretary Carmel Cascun will head the Maltese contingent in Serbia.

The two MSSF officials will also attend the general assembly of the European Shooting Confederation.
