L-Istrina to be broadcast from Verdala Palace
This year's l-Istrina is being held on December 26 and for the first time, it will be broadcast from Verdala Palace, one of the President's residences.
President George Abela and the team behind the event met the heads of PBS, One and Net to discuss the event.
A survey was held to evaluate if the event should be held on Christmas Day, which falls on a Sunday, or the following day.

i am not sure that broadcasting Strina from a newly restored, precious Verdala Castle is such a good Idea. I get the feeling that the President is too utilitarian with our national treasures and inheritance. There are other venues such as Ta' Qali, the sport centre at Cottonera, or the Pavilion at Kordin. I'm sure I have not exhausted the list. Crowds and palaces don't go together.

"More than 50 per cent preferred l-Istrina to be held on Christmas Day, 35 per cent did not give an opinion and 15 per cent preferred l-Istrina to be held on Christmas Day."
What percentage preferred and what percentage didn't?
