Twinning of Maltese and Welsh choirs

A group of soloists and choir members from the Marie Therese Vassallo Voice Studio recently visited Cardiff, Wales, for a singing tour.

They were invited to sing by the Castell Coch Choral Society.

The Maltese group, led by Marie Therese Vassallo, comprised 28 singers, including a number of soloists.

The choir performed during a concert of international music in Tongwynlais, Cardiff. Their repertoire consisted of a mix of English, French, Italian, Russian, Neapolitan and Maltese music.

The mayor of Tongwynlais presented the Maltese group with a plaque to commemorate the twinning of the two choirs. The Maltese choir, meanwhile, presented the Welsh group with a ceramic sculpture by Malta School of Arts headmaster Joseph Mark Micallef.

Both choirs also performed at St Telio parish church, and at St David’s Metropolitan Cathedral, both in Cardiff.

Castell Coch Choral Society will be visiting Malta in October.
