Recent events in Malta reminded me of the rejection, some years back, of Rocco Buttiglione’s nomination as EU Commissioner.
When this came up for approval by the European Parliament, the liberals and their allies (so-called progressives) in the European Parliament rejected it because they con-sidered his views as conserva-tive.
According to the modern liberal and progressive philosophy, there is no place in the EU and Malta for different views.
