The Gozo Youth Orchestra, in collaboration with the American Embassy and the Culture Office of the Gozo Ministry, will present ‘The New Frontiers – Opera vs Pop Under the Stars’.

The performance will be held in the courtyard of the ministry in Victoria, tomorrow at 8.15 p.m.

The orchestra, under the direction of founder and musical director Joseph Grech, will perform operatic arias in the first part of the programme, followed by an array of lighter pop arrangements from soundtracks and musicals. Taking part will be soprano Pamela Agius (pictured), bass Noel Galea, and pop singer Ludwig Galea.

The orchestra, made up mainly of 50 Gozitan youths, will be embarking on a combined project of orchestral master classes by string professors from France and Germany.
