A team of 11 physics teachers and two laboratory technicians from St Ignatius College Boys Secondary School, Ħandaq, were recently presented with the Distinguished Science Teaching Award.

They received the award at a ceremony organised in collaboration with the Malta Council for Science and Technology and held at Villa Bighi, Kalkara.

The group attended the Third Paris International Conference on Education, Economy and Society in Paris, France, this month, as part of their prize. A voucher for school lab equipment was also presented to the school.

The group won the award in light of their work during the nine-year project ‘Going Renewable’, which taught students that their choices contributed to the environment and encouraged them to live a sustainable lifestyle.

The Maltese Association of Science Educators committee recently established the award as a means of recognising to the work done by Maltese teachers of science and to promote good practice in the field of science education.
