Camilleri Holdings, MIA win EBA Ruban d’Honneur prizes

Camilleri Holdings Limited and Malta International Airport are among 110 companies across Europe that have been awarded a ‘Ruban d’Honneur’ prize in the penultimate stage of the European Business Awards sponsored by HSBC.

They are among Europe’s most dynamic businesses to have survived intensive and rigorous judging to make it onto the finalists list. They now have an opportunity to be crowned as one of 11 overall category winners.

European Business Awards chief executive officer Adrian Tripp said receiving a Ruban d’Honneur was a major success.

“It promotes the fact that you’re up there with the best businesses across the European community,” he said. “This year has been tough on the judging panel as we are seeing businesses emerge from economic difficulties and come out fighting and delivering some great entries. The mood is confident, ebullient and highly competitive.”

HSBC Bank Malta chief executive officer and director Alan Richards congratulated Camilleri Holdings and MIA for their achievement, particularly as competition for the awards is intense. Head of commercial banking Michel Cordina added the bank was pleased that two Maltese businesses had made it to this important stage of the awards process for the second consecutive year.

The local firms are finalists for the Chairman’s Selection Ruban d’Honneur prize for the European Business Awards 2011. This is a selection of the top 10 businesses which have contributed towards the success of Europe as a whole. These businesses were considered by the judging panel as having something ‘special’ to offer.
