This is the second year that the Sliema local council has installed rubbish bins along the shore of Sliema.

The bins are large and have four different compartments for plastic, glass, metal and other waste. They are smart although gaudy but are ideal for recycling rubbish. However, again this year, the cleaners of the Sliema council have been collecting all the rubbish for disposal into one large plastic bag almost daily.

The council should lead by example and collect all the rubbish separately for eventual recycling. There are also a number of other bins for recycling and the rubbish in these are also collected by the cleaners and placed into one large plastic bag.
