The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM) has appointed Maltese magician Vanni Pulé as its new international president – the first Maltese and the fourth European president in its history.

The conferment was recently held in Dallas, Texas, US, in a ceremony attended by about 1,000 IBM members.

After receiving the chain of office and the gavel, Pulé spoke about the necessity of keeping magic elevated as an art form and of respecting its diversity and its rich history.

He then chaired its executive board meeting and installed new officers in the committees.

The organisation comprises about 12,000 magicians, amateur and professional, from 73 countries. The IBM has some 300 branches (called rings) around the world and Malta has its own small, yet very active, ring.
