Suspended jail term for stalking, threatening former partner
Giorgio Marino, 49, who lives in Zabbar has been jailed eight months suspended to three years after pleading guilty to threatening and stalking the mother of his 12-year-old child at Zabbar and Tarxien yesterday.
Mr Marino was also charged with damaging the woman's car. He was fined €90 to cover the damage.
A three-year protection order was placed on the victim.

The word "Suspended" is becoming too common in our courts.

It is in the parameters of the law .For first timers who incriminate the law and has a sentence less than 2 years imprison wll be subjected to a suspended sentence....everyone can be eligible for this privilege......

Very true, but it can also mean automatic carceration if the person relapses. It's a frustrating choice, but not as bad as it seems.
