Drogba: Chelsea striker Didier Drogba expects to sign a new one-year contract extension that will tie him to Stamford Bridge until 2013. “We’ve started talking and it’s very interesting. Everybody knows what I feel about Chelsea and what I want,” he said.
Heinze: Former Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze agreed to join Roma after leaving Marseille where he had spent two seasons. The 33-year-old Argentine had been under contract at Marseille until 2012 but had insisted in May that he wanted to leave after falling out with officials at the French side.
Bolton: Bolton are poised to sign Chris Eagles and Tyrone Mears from Burnley after the Premier League club’s joint bid for the pair was accepted by their local rivals. It is believed Bolton will pay £3 million to land the two players.
Gervinho: Gervinho marked his Arsenal debut with both goals in a 2-1 win over Bundesliga side Cologne in a pre-season friendly yesterday. Gervinho played just 29 minutes before he was substituted following a collision with Cologne goalkeeper Michael Rensing.
