Labour leader Joseph Muscat has written to Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg expressing sorrow and his and party's condolences at yesterday's attack .

Dr Muscat said the Maltese Labour Party joined the European Socialist parties and the rest of the world in solidarity with the people of Norway at this time.

"This was a senseless attack on democracy and common sense. All our thought are with the victims and their families. During these times, we should continue strengthening the principles we believe in so that through democratic beliefs we will push away extremism which takes over the minds of a few people who greatly damage society," Dr Muscat wrote.
