The new bus stop in Rabat is causing a lot of hardship and the removal of the focal transport spot in Saqqajja beggars belief. It is only someone who does not reside in the Rabat area who would come up with the idea to eliminate the Saqqajja stage.

When I asked the Rabat local council why this area was not being used, I was informed that the decision was taken by Transport Malta.

The new bus stop has been moved to where the bus 65 used to unload the tourists for Mdina.

The spot is open to the elements, with no cover of any kind for any type of weather whatsoever. On the other hand the Saqqajja stop was well equipped with benches and the shelter of a bus stop.

Also, at this time of the year the trees provided the much-needed cover from the scorching sun, so why was the bus stop removed?

This is not teething trouble, this is sheer bad planning. Rabat residents deserve better. We shouldn’t have to wait six months for this to be put right, we need it rectified now.
