Jailed for stealing mother's jewellery

A woman who had been charged of stealing her mother's jewellery was this morning jailed two years and six months.

Carmela Camilleri, 40, of St Paul's Bay was jailed 18 months for stealing the jewellery and another year as a previous suspended jail term was brought into effect.

Ms Camilleri had stolen the jewellery in July last year soon after she was released from prison.

She had been found in possession of the watch and necklace she had been charged with stealing. They had an estimated value of around €2,300.
