Philip Saunders has been named Air Malta’s chief commercial officer responsible for leading all commercial activity on a day-to-day basis and spearheading the airline’s restructuring in such areas.
Air Malta said the cabin service and ground handling departments would now form part of the Commercial Department in line with its vision to deliver consistently excellent service tailored to the needs of the Maltese market and meeting commercial objectives.
The department is also responsible for sales and marketing, distribution and e-business, revenue management, network planning and commercial agreements. Mr Saunders had a strong track record “built up over 20 years in the industry, with significant experience in turnaround situations”, the airline said.
He served as CEO of Caribbean Airlines, commercial director at Star Alliance, executive vice president commercial at SN Brussels Airlines and occupied senior positions at British Airways over 13 years, including management roles in Russia and Switzerland and commercial director at Deutsche BA, a subsidiary airline based in Germany.
