Reigning open water swimming champions Davina Mangion and Roberto Demicoli remained on top of their respective championships’ standings with victories in the third race, held recently at St Paul’s Bay.
Mangion had an easy ride as she swam unchallenged to the finish buoy, covering the two kilometres in 27:33 to finish in front of Marian Belsten (32:48) and Charis Ceccarelli (34:14).
In the men’s race, Demicoli only managed to beat his Birkirkara St Joseph team-mate Simon Zammit in the final stages of the swim.
Demicoli’s winning time was 29 minutes and 50 seconds, two seconds faster than Zammit’s.
Wayne Agius was third in 32 minutes 41 seconds.
The next race from the series will be held this evening, starting at 6 p.m.
