Earthquake shakes Greek island

An earthquake of preliminary magnitude 5 has struck off the Greek island of Zakynthos, but no injuries or damage have been reported, authorities said today.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the undersea quake struck at 10.13 a.m. (0713GMT), and had its epicentre about 100 kilometres off the island's south-western coast.

The epicentre was about 350 kilometres west of Athens.

Greece is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries, and Zakynthos lies in an area of frequent seismic activity. But severe damage and injuries are rare.

As you wish Jean but does I would prefer prophet of pragmatism -and that is what we will not enjoy(profit) if we remain in this in this dead-in -the -water currency and can you put your hand on your heart and say for sure that the eurozone will stay intact in the foreseeable future?

Muddled thinking equating to muddled English. What are you proposing exactly? That Greece leaves the eurozone or that all euro-adopting countries abandon the euro or rekindle their old currencies? Funny how persistently euro sceptics such as yourself and many many others (mostly British euro sceptics) seem to clutch at every proverbial straw to prove that a united Europe is destined for failure. I guess to each his own.

Thanks for your kind words and it would appear that superior intellect as you obviously possess equates to being disrespectful.I am proposing that we don't chase good money after bad and uneqivocally declaring that Greece will default on both advances-or is that appearing to be muddled again?
