Stability under Gonzi’s leadership (2)
Hundreds of comments are flowing in following the first roll-call vote in Parliament on the introduction of divorce in Malta.
While this is not surprising, most comments are superfluous and serve only to foment more rancour.
After all, it is the judgement of the electorate at the next general election that will deliver the ultimate valid comment on the vote of each parliamentarian who presents him/herself for re-election. The judgement of the Maltese society on the effects of the introduction of divorce on the family will have to follow later.

The judgement is on the whole world's society (except the Phillipinnes)will have to follow later andis not confined to Maltese society -as why single out Malta for the effects (?)of the introduction of divorce? You fail to mention the introduction of the freedom of choice -or is that comment superfluous as well?!

Why do I single out Malta? Simple, dear Watson. I am writing about events in Malta, on which the Maltese have to decide.

Mr Saliba
That is very blinkered, indeed myopic, when consideration is given to the subject matter which impacts on the whole world (and has done for many years in most cases).Futhermore, you did not say or intimate what these "effects on the family " may ultimately be,Nor did you address the topic of the effects of freedom of choice finally being granted here ,as Divorce alone is not the answer or issue but rather the ability to be able decide for one's self and to have an alternative option -as you do by where you wrote your input from whilst and I am Maltese who chooses to reside in Malta and decide accordingly.

I did not reply directly to what you wrote because most of what you wrote is incomprehensible. I write to express myself on a topic I choose and not on what you want me to say. I do not feel that I should prophesy what the effects of divorce in Malta will be, either in Malta, or any other part of the world. I leave that to a "knowall". Incidentally, a choice has to be free, otherwise it would be an imposition.

That is your opinion and you are entitled to it.
I believe in freedom of choice (please note Mr Murray) and I leave it to the electorate to make their choice.

... and those who in the Referendum voted NO should not vote for those who voted YES in Parliament.

Dear Mr.Camm,
That is unquestionably what will happen -sad to say.Which merely confirms that religion and politics make for strange bedfellows whilst MP's are there purely and simply to satisfy the will and wishes of the people.
