Foreign Minister Marcos Kyprianou has tendered his resignation following a blast at a naval base that killed 13 people and crippled Cyprus's main power station, CyBC state radio said.

Kyprianou tendered his resignation to President Demetris Christofias, asking him to be "relieved of all his duties," the report said.

It did not say whether Christofias had accepted the resignation.

Kyprianou confirmed his intention to resign during a closed session of an extraordinary parliamentary defence committee probe into the deadly blast of July 11, the report said.
