AFM finds petard at maritime base
A fireworks petard was found at the maritime base of the Armed Forces of Malta today.
The AFM said that following the weekend feast (at Msida) the Maritime
Squadron conducted a search at Haywharf Base for fireworks' burn debris and any unexploded shells.
An unexploded petard was found and made safe by the AFM's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit.
The police are investigating.
The petards were let off from the area near the Garden of Repose on the bastions overlooking the maritime base in Floriana.

and what about the pettards set off over the by pass. I live on the main road and on thursday, friday satuarday and sunday a good number of pettards were set off from less than 150 metres from were i live. I have my apartment full of ash, the roof and terrance with pieces of pettards apart from the massive noise. Everyday had to call for the fire brigade to put off flames of burning trees and on thursday eve a good number of pettards fell in the main road with passing cars. i have also photos to proof this, but again they make the law

The fireworks team for this feast is really irresponsible. Cars going by the main road out of the University tunnel to St Venera were showered with large parts of petards around 11pm on Saturday night. Some cars braked sharply while others had large burning pieces land on their bonnet with the risk of setting the cars alight. If you are going to burn fireworks at least do it responsibly.

Close the road; or go another way - I hope St. Joseph prays for you and the rest of your secular friends. How many pedestrians on normal roads near their homes have been almost hit or screamed at - same difference.

The Garden of Repose has clearly found its purpose in life.

And right infront of the church, ground fireworks were set off less than 20 meters away from yachts which cost thousands of Euros. Ridiculous!! Who gave these irresponsible people permission to do so ?

FYI @ Kirkop fireworks are let up beside a hydrogen bunker and just meters away from Multigas! How about that?

Move the Yachts out to sea during the fire works so they are safe in that case.

I agree with Mr. Bonello - secondly not everyone can afford a yacht - but those that cannot do deserve to enjoy at least a little entertainment - have a heart and social conscience - let people enjoy the feast and move the boats. Msdiani - please note (for next year).
