Emirates Holidays is offering a 10-day package intended to allow visitors to experience the best of China’s rich cultural heritage and its dramatic urban regeneration in Beijing, Xian and Shanghai.
With a recorded history spanning over 4,000 years, China seeks its rightful place in the 21st century.
It is a country of superlatives – over 1.2 billion citizens make it the world’s most populous, its 9.5 million square kilometres make it the world’s third largest, it has one of the world’s oldest civilisations, the Great Wall is the world’s longest man-made structure and more than a fifth of the world’s population is Chinese.
Wherever one travels in China one finds something to marvel at, from the extraordinary 2,300-year-old Terracotta Warriors in Xian, to the fantastic landscapes of Guilin; from Neolithic villages to the go-getting modernity of Hong Kong, and from Beijing’s burgeoning skyline to the towering ramparts of the Himalayas.
Emirates Holidays promotes China as a place full of friendly people, spectacular architecture and towering skylines; where rich culture and history mix with luxury hotels and exquisite cuisine.
Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing for a four-night stay, transport will be provided to the hotel and the rest of the day is spent at leisure. The following morning, the itinerary includes a visit to the Tiananmen Square where some of China’s most iconic buildings can be found, including the Great Hall of the People and the Museum of Chinese History.
In the afternoon there will be a visit to the Forbidden City and its surrounding places of interest.
On the third day, the tour will explore the Great Wall of China, the world’s largest man made structure, before continuing to the Ming Tombs, the resting place of 13 emperors of the Ming dynasty.
On the fourth day, the visitor is invited to explore the capital.
Xian
The following morning, transfer will be proved to the airport for the flight to Xian for a two night stay. The tour takes visitors up the steps to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built over 1,300 years ago, and to the 600-year-old Bell Tower and the Shaanxi Provincial Museum.
The sixth day will include a visit to the extraordinary life-size Terracotta Warriors and the Ban Po Museum, where the remains of a Neolithic society dating back 8,000 years are displayed.
Shanghai
On the seventh day, visitors will fly to Shanghai for a three-night stay. Upon arrival, visitors can stroll along The Bund area (Shanghai’s Wall Street), and visit the Yuyuan Garden, which was built in 1559, and the Jade Buddha Temple. The rest of the day can be then spent at leisure.
The following day kicks off with a tour of Su Zhou – ‘The Venice of The East’ – and Zhou Zhuang, well-known for its dreamy landscape and simple architecture.
The last two days are free for visitors to explore the city at their own pace. On the 10th and final day, last minute shopping can be done before the afternoon flight home.
