Roberto Andolfi’s Tigers recently participated in a triangular tournament played in Taranto and organised by the Tritons Baseball and Softball club.

The Tigers played two games in Italy, one against hosts Taranto Tritons and the other against Foggia Softball. These two matches helped the Maltese girls to garner experience and rectify mistakes committed in previous outings outside the country.

The Tigers beat Taranto 12-5 and the latter then conceded a second defeat when going down to Foggia 4-10. In the decisive match, the Tigers lost to eventual winners Foggia 12-2.

The medals ceremony was attended by the city’s Councillor for Sport, Sebastiano Romeo, who also threw the first pitch of the tournament, and Gionatan Scasciamacchia from the same council.

The Tigers are now preparing for another trip to Italy, this time to Saronno before playing the Cosmos team in October. The third international tournament in Malta will be played in December.

Training starts on Tuesday evening at the University Grounds. One may obtain more details through website www.maltasoftballtigers.com or by sending an e-mail at tigersoftballmalta@gmail.com.
