The Malta Council for the Volunteer Sector (MCVS) recently launched the National Volunteer Award to recognise the work carried out by those who volunteer for non-profit organisations, charities and NGOs.
The award is part of the activities celebrating the European Year of Volunteering 2011.
The launch was presided over by MCVS chairman Robert Farrugia, who spoke about the valuable contribution to society made by volunteers.
The public, including members of organisations, are being asked to nominate people they believe to be deserving of the award.
MCVS will receive nominations on e-mail at mcvs.meef@gov.mt. Nomination forms can be found on the MCVS website, www.maltacvs.com or requested via e-mail. The closing date for nominations is October 5.
The recipient of the award will be selected by an independent board appointed by MCVS and the presentation of the award will take place on December 5.
